The Hangover Part II
Two years after the boys went loco in Las Vegas, Stu (Ed Helms) is getting married in Thailand, and the old Wolfpack - Alan (Zach Galifianakis), Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Doug (Justin Bartha) - are reunited. But when a quiet beer on the beach outside their resort goes horribly wrong, the boys wake up in Bangkok with yet again no memory of the night before.
Their dingy digs hold few clues, apart from a severed finger, a monkey with a nicotine habit and their old nemesis Mr Chow (Kim Jeong), who promises to fill them in before collapsing on the coffee table. And Stu's future brother-in-law, Teddy, is missing. Can they find him and discover what the hell happened in time for Stu to get hitched?
Highlights: Tattoo parlours, lady-boy nightclubs, monkey business... Yep, expect more hijinks from the hedonistic ensemble cast as they exploit every Thai cliche to comic effect. In true bachelor party style, the buck cops it the worst (if you thought Stu did it tough marrying a hooker and losing a tooth in the original film, you ain't seen nothing yet). Alan isn't really on fire here, but Mr Chow's a hoot.
Lowlights: Director/writer Todd Phillips clearly felt he would be mad to mess around with the first film's winning formula, and this sequel is pretty much the same story in a new, crazier location. Ah well, we'll always have Vegas.
