Joel explains Sparrow’s name
Joel Madden named his son Sparrow because he wanted to teach his newborn son to stand up for himself, despite his privileged upbringing. Joel says, “My worry raising a son in Hollywood is, what will he have to struggle for? I wanted to give him a name that’s he’s going to have stand up for. I love it, I think it’s a beautiful name.”
The tattooed rocker has also spoken out about his admiration of his partner,
Nicole Richie. “She takes care of the kids, and it never gets to her. She doesn’t feel like she’s giving up anything – she is wholeheartedly their mum.”
