Shared with you - Jessica Biel from New Weekly

Jessica Biel

She’s made a few B movies in her time, but Jessica Biel’s finally on The A-Team. In this adaptation of the popular ‘80s TV show, Justin Timberlake’s other half plays tough cookie and the team’s nemesis Captain Charisa Sosa, who happens to have history with “Faceman”, played by Bradley Cooper. Jess tells NW what she thinks about…

Being one of the most beautiful women in the world: You just go with it, because it’s incredibly flattering to have that said about you. But let’s get serious – there are a lot of people around the world we don’t know about that are incredibly beautiful.

Adopting children: Not that I’m against adopted children, but they’d be better off with someone else!

Her A-Team character: Most of her stuff wasn’t even written, she was just this un-fleshed-out, underdeveloped tough girl, kinda bitchy. [Director] Joe [Carnahan] and our writer Brian Bloom just worked it out and then put this great thing on the page. Joe was incredibly improvisational, throwing out new lines, saying ‘Try this joke’ or ‘Let’s make her funny here’. I think my question was, if she doesn’t have a killer sense of humour, why is Face going to like her?

Her fitness regime: I do yoga, and now that it’s getting warmer, I play volleyball. My brother plays a lot, so I usually go down there and play with him.

Climbing Mt Kilimanjaro: That was an incredible experience. I’m so happy I did it. I would encourage anyone who is at all interested in challenging [themselves] physically but, more than anything, mentally. It was such a mental struggle, slowly walking begrudgingly up this huge mountain.

Life in the public eye: If you let it in, what people say about you and how people think about you, it’s just toxic. It’s just horrible to try to please a bunch of people you’ve never met before, who want to just make assumptions about your life and your career.

Eating habits: Food is a drug, and when I’m not eating properly, I have way less energy – my body looks different, which means it looks different on film. I want to feel like I can go 18 hours on set. So when I’m working, I’m really disciplined. When I’m not working, I’m very undisciplined.

Her passion for singing: I’m auditioning for movie musicals and Broadway musicals and hopefully will do one of those in the future.

Bradley Cooper: He’s got this incredible ability to improvise and he’s so funny. It was just a joy to work with him and it was intimidating in the same way.

Whether their kiss was improvised: No! That was very planned.

Being one of ‘the guys’: I can’t drink anybody under the table. I wish I could. But I do feel more comfortable with guys. I try to make them feel comfortable, whip out a couple of fart jokes or something.

The A-Team is in cinemas now.
