Pack a perfect picnic
“Nothing’s better than a picnic,” says Zooey, who makes her own quinoa salad for outdoorsy feasts. “Mix cooked quinoa with slivered almonds, chopped dried apricots and currants and a raspberry vinaigrette.”
Holiday healthily
“I almost always visit health-food stores in every city I’m in, just to make sure there’s stuff on the bus I can eat – vegetables, fruits, lean meat and nuts,” says Zooey of being on the road with her band She & Him.
Try a wacky class
“I took six years of tap dancing and I love it! It’s a good cardio workout,” spills Zooey. “When I exercise, I like to take lots of different classes because I want to really apply myself and feel like I’m learning a new skill."
Get out & about
“I really mix it up,” says Zooey, who boasts that she can hula hoop for hours. “I hike, run, bike. I do an hour a day, and then have a day off a week.” Try to do as many different activities as possible to avoid getting bored.
Slim your snacks
One of Zooey’s favourite binge busters is spicy chickpeas – perfect for your beach bag. Always take healthy snacks with you wherever you go so that you have them on hand throughout the day when hunger strikes.
